Tigers win in close final
THERE was cause for celebration in Simpson last weekend when the Tigers took home the division two South West Cricket premiership.

THERE was cause for celebration in Simpson last weekend when the Tigers took home the division two South West Cricket premiership.
The Tigers put on an impressive display at the Terang cricket ground on Saturday to snare victory over Boorcan by just one wicket, giving the Tigers back-to-back premiership honours
The Tigers finished on 9/121 while containing the Dragons to 117.
Simpson president David Weel paid tribute to the side, saying it was a “terrific all-round effort”,
“The whole team really put in 110 per cent and that paid off on Saturday,” he said.
“There were no real stand outs, it was legitimately a great team effort.
“We dropped a few catches but overall I thought the side batted and bowled really well on the turf wicket. Both clubs had a lot of support there, which really added to the atmosphere.”
Bowling first, the Tigers had Boorcan all out for 117 thanks to some tight fielding, backed-up by some accurate bowling from Tom Marshall who finished with 3/20 off eight overs, Tanner Fratantaro 3/8 off 2.4 and Kris Ackerley 2/20 off eight.
Taking to the crease, Phil Vines was effective with the bat making 28.
He was well supported by Brock Neal who added 27, Simon Hay with an unbeaten 15 and Acklerey with 11.
“It was great to witness a close grand final match and both sides are to be congratulated on their performances,” Weel said.
In the division three grand final on Saturday, Noorat took the honours over Princetown with a 60-run victory.
Noorat finished the day on 109 runs and restricted Princetown to 10/49.
