TIMBOON locals wanting to have more of an involvement in the town are invited to a Timboon Action meeting tonight.
TIMBOON locals wanting to have more of an involvement in the town are invited to a Timboon Action meeting tonight.
Group president Heather Martin encouraged members to consider getting involved and nominating for a committee position.
“We strongly encourage any interested community members to come along to the meeting,” she said.
“All positions are declared vacant and are up for grabs.
“Please make the effort to come along and show your support, we promise you won’t get dobbed in for a role unless you pop your hand up.
“We are in need of committee members, so have a think and see if you have any skills you’d like to contribute to any of the many projects we have on the go.”
Ms Martin thanked those who had been involved in Timboon Action over the past 12 months.
“I don’t think any of us truly understood exactly what we had committed ourselves to at last year’s AGM, but it has been an incredible ride,” she said.
“We lost a couple of members along the way, and there have been the expected challenges of forming a new team, but the fun and laughter has flowed at every step of the way.
“The constant feedback from community members and business leaders alike, together with the smiles on people’s faces – that’s all the reward and satisfaction needed for donating time and skills to Timboon Action and Timboon.”
It was a busy 12 months for the committee helping to organise successful community Christmas and Easter events, TRACKS festival, a community Anzac service and Makers and Farmers Markets.
“Ongoing future commitments already underway include The Gazette, Timboon Community Christmas, six more Makers and Farmers Markets; full responsibility of organizing and running TRACKS 2024 with a shire grant, clearing of blackberries and undergrowth behind boardwalk at Powers Creek also thanks to a shire grant, a brand new town mural project in conjunction with the shire, local business owners and local artists,” Ms Martin said.
The annual general meeting will be held today (Wednesday) at the Timboon Library at 6.30pm.
