Timboon P-12 learns economics
TIMBOON P-12 Year 7 students visited local businesses last week in order to learn more about economics in action.

Thanks to Milk and Honey owner Simone Togni and Wylde Home owners Caitlin Walker and Fiona Mason, students were able to ask questions and learn about how the businesses came to be and what it is like to be a business owner.
Milk and Honey is a home décor store which provides a range of boutique clothing, home goods and gifts, carefully curated by Ms Togni.
Students learnt how to manage supply and demand whilst catering to a diverse array of clients, and Ms Togni stressed the importance of understanding a mixed clientele of both locals and tourists.
She has been running her business in Timboon for 15 years and will soon be expanding with another location in Warrnambool, demonstrating her innovation as an inspiration to the students.
Ms Togni said it was good to have the students visiting Milk and Honey as part of their studies.
“The students were all really well behaved and asked really good questions,” she said.
“The visit was arranged through the Timboon Agricultural Project (TAP) program – one of the coordinators got in contact with me.
“We’ve done it for the last few years together and it’s a good program.
“I enjoy being involved.”

Wylde Home was opened by mother and daughter duo Mrs Walker and Mrs Mason in 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The store is full of homeware goods and includes workshops hosted by a silversmith, ceramist and florist to draw new people to visit the store and support suppliers.
The owners of Wylde Home spoke on how they purposefully stock timeless pieces without following trends as they know those goods will sell consistently.
Now closed for the winter season for the owners to have a break when tourist numbers are low, students were challenged to find a gift for various potential clients.
TAP coordinator Andrea Vallance thanked the business owners for the opportunity they provided to the students.
