Tiny Towns Fund opens
THE state’s tiniest towns could be even better places to live, work, stay and play with applications for the next round of grants from the Tiny Towns Fund now open.
The fund offers grants of up to $50,000 to towns with fewer than 5000 residents – for projects which attract visitors to the town or which celebrate the local community.
The region has been a winner through the fund under previous rounds including the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail management committee receiving $46,500 to resurface the Camperdown Timboon Rail Trail between Timboon and the Curdies historic trestle bridge, Corangamite Shire Council receiving $40,000 for the Cobden Tandarook Park restoration, Moyne Shire Council receiving $23,039 for the upgrading of the Peterborough hall and Simpson and District Community Centre receiving $15,000 to add art to the park.
Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes last week formally opened applications for round three of the $20 million Tiny Towns Fund.
“From upgraded halls to new playgrounds, these projects are improving how locals live, work and connect in their towns,” she said.
“This fund is making a big difference to our smallest communities – delivering hundreds of projects that attract visitors and bring the community together.”
More than 50 community halls have been upgraded or renovated, alongside dozens of new and improved playgrounds and outdoor spaces through the fund – boosting livability and tourism in small towns across Victoria.
The Tiny Towns Fund is strengthening communities by making them even better places to live, work, stay and play, with many of the projects using local contractors and suppliers to carry out the works.
It is a part of the Labor Government’s record $47 billion investment to support regional and rural Victoria.
Applications close on Wednesday, February 4 in 2026.
