Tony and Trish O’Leary drawn winners of the annual MRC car raffle

The pair were the lucky winners of Mercy Regional College’s (MRC) annual car raffle – taking home a Mitsubishi AS ‘demo’.
Mrs O’Leary said they have been buying MRC raffle tickets since the raffle first started nearly 50 years ago but have never won before.
“It’s wonderful to win,” she said.
“As soon as I heard that Mercy Regional College was calling us, I thought, ‘Did we win the car?!’ It was a big surprise!”
School principal Sharon Gillett said the car raffle was a long-standing tradition at MRC and a significant contributor to the funding of learning resources and facilities at the college.
“We would like to thank the raffle sponsors for donating amazing prizes, as well as all the community members who purchased tickets, helped us organise the raffle and promoted sales,” she said.
“We are grateful to the Camperdown Courthouse for kindly hosting the drawon Monday.”
Ms Gillett said this year due to COVID-19 the raffle was held in a new online format, which was challenging and rewarding at the same time.
“With 4491 tickets sold, we can proudly say that the 2020 car raffle was a great success,” she said.
“The money raised will go towards the purchase of a 12-seat minibus that can be driven by all staff with a regular driver’s licence.
“Our congratulations to all the winners of the raffle prizes.”
Other raffle winners included Olga Petrovskaya who won a $1500 Betta Home Living voucher, Alison Christian who won a $250 fuel voucher and Karen Boswell who won a $200 jewellery voucher.
