Top award for Atchison’s
BARRY and Pam Atchison have been acknowledged for their commitment to the Camperdown Magpies Bowling Club, receiving the Max Johnson Memorial Best Clubperson award.
The award was presented to the couple during last Sunday week’s annual presentation day.
This award is presented to the person/s deemed to have carried out a huge amount of work during the season.
Pam was acknowledged for her work in the kitchen and clubhouse and Barry for his work around the clubhouse and the greens.
Other major award winners presented throughout the day included:
Ladies’ champion – Vicki Brebner; runner-up Keira Johnson.
Men’s champion – Matthew Brewer, runner-up Craig Skene.
Ladies pairs champions – Kel Edwards and Keira Johnson.
Men’s pairs champions – David Bateman and Kevin Conheady.
Mixed pairs champions – Darren Page and Donna Watts.
Ladies’ presidents’ handicap – Kel Edwards.
Men’s presidents’ handicap – Brad Errock.
Ladies 100up – Deb Noonan.
Men’s 100up – Jack Paasse.
Ladies’ B grade champion – Donna Watts.
Men’s B grade champion – Steve Lucas.
While it is very rare for a pennant team to score a perfect eight shots in an end, this happened twice during the season.
Division two players Glenn Winsall, Mark Winsall, Daryl O’Donohue and Nick Salagari received an eight badge each.
Division three players Darren Page, Peter James, Pam Atchison and Steve Lucas also picked up an eight badge each.
The club had a very successful season, with five teams making grand finals and two bringing home the championship.
The club looks forward to season 2027 – which kicks off tonight (Friday) with the annual meeting to be held at the Thornton Street clubrooms from 7pm.
