Top league award for Demon
TIMBOON Demons rising under 13 footballer Jed Watson last week took out the Warrnambool and District Football Netball League under 13 best and fairest award.

Watson led the count with 30 votes, ahead of Dennington’s Jacob Dance on 26 votes and Demons teammate Dane Nicholls on 25.
“He’s had a pretty exceptional year,” Timboon under 13 coach Toby Hendrix said.
“He kicked his 50th goal of the season on Saturday (in the second semi-final), yet he plays mostly as a ruckman for us.”
Watson also took out the league goal kicking award with 47 in the home and away season.
Hendrix noted Watson was well respected by his teammates.
“We’ve rotated our captains all season, then put it to the team to vote for our finals captain.
“Jed was strongly endorsed as our captain, he’s a natural born leader who the players look up to.”
A strong training ethic has contributed to Watson’s success.
“He doesn’t rest on his laurels, he’s always first to get out on the track and really supports the younger guys in the team.”
Hendrix added Watson was easy going with a good sense of humour.
“When he got the award he was asked what had contributed to his success.
“Jed’s reply was getting taller helped.”
Letting Watson play freely is an easy move for the Demons coach.
“He’s just a natural footballer who thrives on playing to his natural instincts without being contained.
“You’d love to have another 17 kids like Jed, he’s a joy to coach.”
