ONE of Timboon’s most popular shops – Timboon Opportunity Shop (TOPS) – continues to support the wider community.

TOPS co-ordinator Brenda Parfett said the latest round of funding assistance saw the shop donate $20,000 to various community groups which included:

• Camperdown Timboon Rail Trail- air conditioner for Glenfyne hall;

• Whiskey Still In;

• Timboon CFA;

• Port Campbell Cemetery Trust.

• TAP Timboon P-12 School CRCA (Curdies River Catchment Alliance).Book publication;

• Simpson Primary School;

• Timboon Kyokushin Karate Club;

• Timboon Field and Game Club Inc;

• Veterans Families (Lyndell Driscoll) funding for worldwide relay, commencing in France;

• Heytesbury Rebels Cricket Club; and

• Timboon Community Gym.

“We find it interesting with the many and varied requests for funds, and the use that the money can make a difference with organisations,” Mrs Parfett said.

“We are grateful for the many volunteers that come each week, on their specific day, and start to sort or tidy or have new ideas, for a display in the shop maybe.

“Furniture comes in and is often sold very quickly.

“Our Top shop welcome people when they bring donations to us, and we can on-sell and return money to the community.”

Mrs Parfett said the shop continued to be productive.

“We welcome our new volunteer Glyn Scott she has moved to Timboon, and has enjoyed meeting new people, and found our little shop busy and many things to learn,” she said.

“We are saddened with the death of our treasurer Barb Dickinson and will need someone special to fill her shoes.”
