Successful: Timboon Opportunity Shop volunteers have gathered to celebrate another successful year, having contributed more than $90,000 to local groups.

TOPS co-ordinator Brenda Parfett said the shop had now been open for 12 years and continued to support the wider community.

“It has been another successful year financially as we have donated $95,000 back into Timboon and district via organisations,” she said.

Recent organistions to receive funding from TOPS were:

  • Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail;

  • Timboon Recreation Reserve;

  • Port Campbell Crayfest;

  • Disabled Surfing Association;

  • Timboon Basketball Association;

  • Timboon Field and Game;

  • Scotts Creek Cemetery;

  • Timboon Action;

  • Timboon Bowls; and

  • Scotts Creek Hall Committee.

Mrs Parfett paid tribute to all volunteers who donated their time to the shop.

“The volunteers are the best part of the TOPS shop all with different skills and talents and ideas,” she said.

“I want to thank the volunteers for their devotion to TOPS.

“We value all volunteers, and without you there would be no TOPS, we are valued in the community.”

The shop continues to grow in popularity with visitors and locals alike, according to Mrs Parfett.

“We don’t need to advertise word of mouth is the best advertising there is and customers say we have heard about your shop and receive many compliments of our wonderful shop,” she said.

“We have friends of TOPS people that come from Geelong with goods and another couple that bring goods from Werribee, as they have family here and say we have been gathering these goods for TOPS.”
