Winner: Janice Lindsay won a basket of groceries at the recent TOPS plant sale.
LOCALS with a green thumb were in seventh heaven at the annual Timboon Opportunity Shop (TOPS) plant sale.
Shop co-ordinator Brenda Parfett said the weather was perfect for the occasion which saw a variety of plants sold.
“We had tables laden with plants from succulents, cacti, orchids, bulbs, vegetable plants and seedlings,” she said.
“Most popular I think were tomato plants as they walked out the door with customers wearing big smiles, happy with their purchases.
“A very successful raffle of a basket of groceries, was won by Janice Lindsay, other winners were Jan Neale, Hazel Collins and Julie Bell.”
Mrs Parfett said the community continued to be key supporters of TOPS.
“TOPS committee would like to thank the community as always for wonderful support, with many people donating and purchasing plants,” she said.
“A special thank you to our committee member Barbara Fraser and Joyce Lindquist for pricing and organising plants on the day and days prior to the plant sale.
“We made $2000 on the day which will go back into the community.”
Timboon and district community groups in need of a little support are encouraged to talk to TOPS volunteers.
Mrs Parfett said the shop was again in a position to return money back to the community.
“Thanks to valuable volunteers and a generous community that donate goods to us, we then check it over and sort and price each article,” she said.
“Each November and March we are able to do this, and at this time of the year we are able to donate financial help to organisations in the community.
“If you are a member of an organisation that could do with a lift financially pick up a form from TOPS and fill it in or contact me if you want to ask a question on 0407 850 611.”
Applications for the funding close on November 16.
