TOPS support continues to help
THE Timboon Opportunity Shop (TOP) has had a busy summer period, which means more funds to give back to the community.
TOPS co-ordinator Brenda Parfett said there are funds now available to give to local organisations, with distributions taking place at the end of March.
“Our volunteers have been constantly sorting, selling and preparing goods for sale,” she said.
“New shelving in the big shed has made it easier for customers to see our goods on display.
“The public have been bringing in goods for us to sell and our funds are distributed back into community.”
Mrs Parfett said donations came from far and wide.
“Some of our - I call them friends of TOPS - travel a long way to visit family and to bring goods from Werribee and Geelong,” she said.
“These have included wedding dresses, debutante frocks and bridesmaids gowns, we have in stock at the moment.
“When they come they have their vehicle packed, with all goods in very good condition or new products.
“This always gives our volunteers a real lift to see such good quality, or brand new goods, go in our shop.”
Mrs Parfett said the shop continued to support local groups and organisations.
“Our recent donation was to Heytesbury Show for their animal nursery,” she said.
“Also, we were able to support Port Campbell lifesavers club with a purchase of a mobile defibrillator for their vehicle.
“So the work of TOPS is ongoing all year, thanks to fabulous volunteers.”
Application forms for the current round of funding are available from TOPS.
