Tough day for Lakers

CAMPERDOWN had a tough day in its round 11 Colac-South West premier cricket fixture against Stoneyford, losing by seven wickets.

The match, transferred from Pirron Yallock to SA Wright Oval, saw the Lakers bat first but they could only manage 94 - all out in 30.1 overs.

Captain Steven Fisher made the main contribution with 40 from 44 balls as the Stoneyford bowlers held sway.

The Rattlesnakes raced to victory in just 14.2 overs for the loss of three wickets; James O’Neil, Nick Frith and Shane Wilson taking a wicket each.

The Lakers will hope for a better performance tomorrow when they take on Bookaar at SA Wright Oval.

In the division three match at Camperdown number two, the Lakers scored a six wicket win over Ecklin.

The Frogs batted first and were bowled out for 73, Lakers captain Daniel Missen’s leg-spinners doing the job with 4/17 from eight overs, with Maddison Fisher taking 2/11 from six overs and Ross McIlveen also taking 2/11 from six.

The Lakers needed just 15.1 overs to pass the score, finishing at 4/74 with Michael Russell making 24.

This week the division three Lakers play Pomborneit Gold at Pomborneit.

In the under 13s on Monday night, Camperdown scored a big 103 run win over Heytesbury-Princetown at Camperdown.

Patrick Greig, Finn Gellie and Beau Smith all reached the 20 run retirement mark in the Lakers’ 4/155.

The Storm replied with 6/52, with Eddie Gellie taking 3/2 from two overs.

The under 13 Lakers have the bye this Monday night.

This week’s game for the Camperdown women will be against Bookaar tomorrow at Camperdown number two.
