Tough day for over 50s
SOUTH West Cricket’s over 50s side faced some tough opposition when they took on Vic Country recently.
Vic Country was strong at the crease, reaching 6/179, with wickets going to Dean Teyelein, Craig Wigney, Craig Jarvis, Darrel Hall, Mike Walsh and Matt Sharman.
Grant Stansfield had a good day out in the field, taking a catch and completing two stumpings, while Matt Sharman also took a catch.
In reply, South West managed 2/158 with Rod Murphy scoring 19, Grant Stansfield 42 retired, Craig Jarvis 34, Bernie Drake 27 not out and Dean Tevelein unbeaten on 29.
Tight bowling in the middle order restricted South West’s run rate.
This was a great day out for team.
Many thanks to Don Sherwell for umpiring, Lindsay McGrath for paying a visit, Joanne for organising and cooking a barbecue after the game and to Stephen Cain for organising the new Volcanoes shirts.
