TWO goalless quarters has seen Terang Mortlake’s senior footballers go down to South Warrnambool by 83 points during round 15 of Hampden league action at Friendly Societies Park.
Despite a first quarter which fetched just two behinds for the Bloods, they did manage to win the second term despite inaccuracy in front of goal, outscoring the hosts 2.7 to 2.2 with the half-time deficit 33 points.
However it was one-way traffic in the second half as the Roosters retained their position inside the top five with a convincing 17.16 (118) to 4.11 (35) result.
Nick Couch booted two goals and was named among the best for Terang Mortlake, while Joe Arundell, Jarryd Hay, Lachlan Wareham, Ryan O’Connor and Gus Bourke also received praise for their performances.
Terang Mortlake’s reserves were also handed a heavy defeat against the finals bound Roosters last Saturday.
The Bloods did not manage to kick a goal during a 31.16 (202) to 0.3 (3) loss.
The news did not get any better for the under 18.5 side, going down to the top of the table Roosters 21.17 (143) to 2.6 (18).
Terang Mortlake were best served by Zac Whiting, Darcy Hobbs, James Moloney, Harvey Roberts, Tyler Humphrey and Joe Heffernan.
This Saturday sees the Bloods return to Mortlake’s D.C. Farran Oval where they will host Portland.
