Tough night on the bikes

IT was a tough night on the bikes for Camperdown Cycling Club members last Thursday.

Swirling winds greeted cyclists for race 15 of the summer series.

It was traditional Victorian weather which consisted of rain drops, sunshine and winds.

Both the junior and senior teams were light on numbers but both races ran smoothly.

The junior winner was Finny, who rode with his mother Rach.

It was hard to work out who was prouder when they crossed the finish line.

Finny’s time was a personal best of 15.08.

Second over the line was Henry in 13.43, with Ava third with her time of 11.53.

Other riders included Izzy 14.27, Josh 9.33 (and fastest), Oliver 9.34, Nathaniel 12.05 and Quinn 11.32.

In the race for seniors, the limit bunch of Rach and Ava rode strongly around the course.

The middle bunch consisted of Matt C and Matt G who made their way around the course against strong Choclyn winds.

The scratch bunch included Josh and Shaun.

The limit bunch stayed together until the last kilometre of the race where the scratch bunch overtook the very hard-working limiters.

The race was won by Josh, followed by Shaun and Ava.

The wooden spoon went to Matt G.

Racing will continue until early April and new members are most welcome.

Any interested riders can phone 0407 335 546 for more information.
