Tough round for Lakers

CAMPERDOWN had a six wicket loss to Bookaar in the round 12 Colac-South West premier cricket match at SA Wright Oval last Saturday.


Batting first, the Lakers were dismissed in 31.5 overs for 155.

Dom Absalom held the innings together with an unbeaten 74 from 90 balls batting at number four - his innings featuring 10 boundaries.

Skipper Steven Fisher was the other main contributor, scoring 38 from 30 balls, with four fours and two sixes.

Bookaar cruised to victory in the 27th over, the Lakers taking four wickets.

Opening bowler Harry Sumner took 3/65 from 10 overs, with Jamie Barry taking the other wicket.

This week Camperdown play Alvie at Alvie.

In division three, Camperdown had an eight wicket loss to Pomborneit Gold at Pomborneit.

Batting first, the Lakers were bowled out for 143 in the 40th over.

Veteran opener Darren Payne top scored with 44 from 77 balls, hitting four boundaries.

Other contributions came from Brady Bernoth with 30 from 39, and Rob McLaughlin with 26 from 35.

Gold chased down the target in 19.5 overs for the loss of just two wickets, with Bernoth and Darren Frith taking a wicket each.

In tomorrow’s match, the division three Lakers play Pomborneit Maroon at South Purrumbete.

Wednesday night’s women’s match was abandoned due to rain, with the Lakers women playing their final match of the season this Wednesday night against Cobden Gold at South Purrumbete.

Camperdown’s under 13 boys had the bye on Monday night, this Monday the junior Lakers play Pomborneit at Pombo.
