Tough start continues for Bombers
COBDEN’S tough start to the 2025 senior football season has continued with a 12.13.85 to 8.8.56 loss to Hamilton on Saturday.

The Bombers led by six points at three-quarter time in the match at the Cobden Community Bank Recreation Reserve before Hamilton ran away with a six goal to zero final term to run out 29 point winners.
Michael Koroneos kicked three goals for the Bombers with two each to Matty Drayton and Angus Uwland.
Uwland, Grady Rooke and skipper Matthew Kemp were best for Cobden, with the Bombers handing senior football debuts to 17 year-old twin brothers Campbell and Parker Walsh.
Ruckman Levi Dare, a three-time Maskell medallist for Cobden, was named best for Hamilton.
Hamilton had a big win in the reserves, 13.10.88 to 2.2.14.
Angus Molan and Josh McGlade were best for Cobden.
In the under 18 football, Hamilton was too strong, 9.9.63 to 3.1.19.
Ryan Mottram kicked two goals, with Ollie Rial and Edmund Walsh Cobden’s best.
The other junior football matches were played at Hamilton on Sunday.
The home team had a thumping win in the under 16s, 23.19.157 to 0.3.3, with Lennie Walsh best for the Bombers.
Hamilton was also too strong in the under 14s, scoring a 12.14.86 to 2.2.14 win which saw Xander Kent named best for Cobden.
After not scoring in the first quarter, the under 12 Bombers came back hard at Hamilton to only go down by eight points, 5.10.40 to 5.2.32.
Charlie Dunn kicked two goals for Cobden, with Anderson Pekin and Braxton Srdoc best for the team.
In the Open netball, Cobden made it two wins in a row with a 56-29 win.
A dominant first half paved the way for the win, the Bombers leading 36 to 13 at half-time.
Nikki Clover shot 32 goals for Cobden, with Sophie Blain, Sarah Moroney and Lara Taylor the Bombers’ best.
Division one netball saw a 34-32 goal win to Hamilton.
Jessica Bouchier scored 20 goals for Cobden and was named in the best alongside Ashlee Merrett and Matilda Darcy.
Cobden had a 37-29 win in division two, with Hailey Mahony scoring 24 goals in a best on court performance.
Cobden went down in the division three game 38-20; Rebecca Foster scoring 13 goals with Sophie Hickey best for the Bombers.
The 17 and under match saw Hamilton run out comprehensive winners, 58-17.
Emily Hickey scored 10 goals, with Hannah Robertson the Bombers best.
Cobden had a bye in the 17 and under reserves.
Hamilton took out the 15 and under netball 30-14, with Isabella Wain scoring seven goals for the Bombers and was named as Cobden’s best.
The Kangaroos also took out the 15 and under reserves, winning 25-13.
Ava Bonner scored nine goals, while Chloe Anderson was named as Cobden’s best.
Hamilton also won the 13 and under netball, 28-17.
Charlotte Dean scored 10 goals for Cobden, with Bridie Roberts named as best for the Bombers.
Cobden had a 15-9 win in the 13 and under reserves, with Amelia Katsaros scoring 11 goals and Mollie Rochfort named best for the Bombers.
