Tough Sunday for Tigers
PLAYING a rare Sunday game on the weekend, Simpson’s senior footballers had a 24-point loss to Irrewarra-Beeac at Irrewarra.
The home team led at every change to record a 12.5.77 to 8.5.53 victory.
Jarrod Garth kicked three goals for Simpson, with Cody Mason, Reagan Jones and Thomas Leishman, Ryleigh McVilly, Brad Salmon and Brodie Neale the best for the Tigers.
Irrewarra-Beeac were also too strong in the reserves fixture, winning 16.18.114 to 4.3.27.
Bailey Foster, Jaryd Duynhoven and Jamie Barry were best for Simpson in the loss, with Barry, Dave Weel, Darcy Thorburn and Ashley Royal kicking a goal each.
The under 15s game saw a fast finishing Simpson fall just two points short, Irrewarra-Beeac scoring a 5.7.37 to 5.5.35 win.
Down by 22 points at three-quarter time, the Tigers held the Bombers scoreless in the last term while kicking three goals two behinds.
Best for Simpson were Alby Jones, Jyda Randle and Ben Vogels, with Jones and Randle kicking two goals each.
In the under 12 football, Irrewarra-Beeac won by 84 points, 15.6.96 to 2.0.12.
Kaiden Teal and Jordan Beecher kicked a goal each for the junior Tigers in the loss.
Simpson’s A grade netballers had their first loss of 2026, going down 50-36.
Holly Duynhoven, Carol Arndell and Amy Pemeberton were best for the Tigers, with Eliza Duynhoven scoring 23 goals.
The B grade game went the way of Irrewarra-Beeac, who scored a 41-36 win.
Lucy De Jong, Sophie Cronin and Jessie Harding were best for Simpson in the loss, with Harding shooting 20 goals and Georgia Arndell 15.
Simpson’s C grade team had a 41-35 loss.
Isabelle Robertson, Kayla Hallyburton and Rachel Perrett were best for the Tigers, with Hallyburton scoring 19 goals and Rachael Duynhoven 16.
Simpson scored a 34-28 win in the D grade netball match to remain undefeated in that competition.
Mason Rothery, Leesa Seabrook and Zalli Fisher were best for the Tigers in the win, with Brianna Ferrari shooting 18 goals and Rebecca Foster 16.
The 17 and under game saw Irrewarra-Beeac score a strong 70-16 win.
Best for the Tigers were Tyra Sambell, Keisha McVilly and Esha Crole with Kustom Robertson scoring 11 goals.
The 15 and under game saw Irrewarra-Beeac win 38-15.
Milah Crole, Courtney Blain and Kate Parker were best for Simpson, with Keisha McVilly shooting 10 goals.
The 13 and under game saw Simpson make it two wins in a row with a 22-20 victory.
Kenise Austin, Charlotte Pascoe and Nyha Ford were Simpson’s best in the win, with Mia Arndell scoring 10 goals and Peyton Robertson eight.
This Saturday sees Simpson host Apollo Bay at the Simpson Recreation Reserve.
