Town welcomes new doctors

THREE female doctors have started at Camperdown Clinic’s two clinics.
Drs Mei Lin Lee and Jenna Lyttle will be practicing at the Scott Street clinic, and Dr Anika Noor works at the Robinson Street clinic.
Dr Lee is a GP registrar in her first year of training, having studied in Dundee in Scotland.
Dr Lee said Camperdown seemed like a “really lovely” place with a “good” Scottish connection.
“Everyone’s been so friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciate, and everyone’s so kind, which is really nice,” she said.
“It seems like a well tight-knit community that supports each other.
“It’s such a diverse practice that offers different opportunities for learning.
“It’s a nice change from the city where you don’t know anyone.”
Dr Lyttle is a GP registrar studied at Melbourne’s Monash University, doing a Bachelor in Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery.
Dr Lyttle said she wanted to get experience in rural medicine, and experience in a general practice in a rural setting.
“It’s a nice varied general practice, so you get lots of younger-older people and people in between, and it’s beautiful around here,” she said.
“It’s a great clinic to work at; the staff are really friendly, the doctors are great to talk to, and the patents have all been really friendly too.
“It’s been really welcoming, both in the clinic and in the community, so it’s been very nice.”
Clinic manager Mark Leddy said there was a positive reaction from the patients.
“They have the ability for more females to see a female doctor, which is really positive as well,” he said.
“A lot of ladies will ask particularly for a female doctor, so this just gives us that further opportunity for them to see a doctor of their choice.
“It helps with Dr Masih; it takes a bit of the load off of her.”
Mr Leddy said patients seen by the new doctors have been giving good feedback, and the doctors were “very positive” towards the community.
“They seem happy being in town,” he said.
“Both of them identified that they felt it was a lovely town when they first came here.
“I’m quite sure the township is proving that for them.”
