Tractor incident cuts local power
A TRACTOR colliding with high voltage powerlines in Terang on Monday afternoon left more than 1000 homes without power.

A TRACTOR colliding with high voltage powerlines in Terang on Monday afternoon left more than 1000 homes without power.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Dow Street, Terang, which resulted in downed powerlines causing damage to a wooden pole.
Police cordoned off the affected section of road while Powercor crews worked to restore power.
A Powercor spokesperson said crews restored power for 1100 customers in the Terang area after a few hours.
“A tractor damaged high voltage cables at 3.10pm, with most customers back on within 40 minutes,” the spokesperson said.
“The final 40 customers were restored at 6.15pm, after repairs were completed.”
Powercor urged drivers of large vehicles and machinery to exercise caution around powerlines.
“Safety is paramount and this is a timely reminder for everyone to be extra vigilant when working around powerlines, whether that’s operating machinery, towing large vehicles or using hand-held equipment,” the spokesperson said.
