Harmony Day celebrates the diversity within Australia, including the various cultures which are present within the community.

Vine and Velvet co-owner Sital Bhusal Neupane said she was pleased with attendance, with 30 people enjoying the chance to experience another culture.

“We just did a bit of everything and they loved it – especially the dance, the performance and the different taste of the food,” she said.

“We even showed them how to eat the water balls.

“Even the kids loved it – there was one couple with kids and they joined the performance.

“People asked to keep these things going.”

Ms Bhusal Neupane said she received positive feedback from the community, who approached the day with an open mind.

“People are so welcoming to new things,” she said.

“They wanted to get involved – they had a curiosity.

“I had my elder son involved, and he explained Nepalese hospitality, greetings and food.

“We are so happy – we’re a multicultural community and people are loving it and welcoming new things into the community.

“They are curious to know about each other and everyone was so helpful.”

Ms Bhusal Neupane said there was one person she wanted to thank for assisting with one important detail at the last minute.

“I want to thank a lady from the Camperdown Courthouse – she provided us with the Australian flag to use as it’s hard to get the Australian and Aboriginal flags at the last minute,” she said.
