Trivia returns with charitable twist
RESIDENTS are invited to sign up for a night of trivia questions and auction bids through a special fundraiser happening early next year.

The trivia and auction night will be held on Friday, January 10 from 7pm at the Camperdown Golf Club Rooms on Sadlers Road, with the bar to open from 6.30pm.
The fundraiser, organised by Rowena Dunstan, will contribute funds raised through auction bids and donations towards Kellarnie Edwards’ campaign.
As Western District Newspapers has previously reported, Ms Edwards is raising funds for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation after her mother, Jan, was last year diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer known as glioblastoma multiforme.
“The idea came from Kel Edwards, who is raising money for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation – her mother has got brain cancer and has had it for over 12 months now,” Ms Dunstan said.
“She has been trying to raise money, and I just came up for the idea of a trivia night because no-one seems to run them anymore.
“I thought we’d put one together and see if we can raise any more money.
“It is a bit slow at the moment – everyone’s away, Christmas is coming up and shops shut.
“We’ve got six tables (of eight) at the moment – it’s a good start, but hopefully we get some more people on board.”
The trivia and auction night is free entry, with attendees asked to bring a plate to share.
Alongside the silent auction, where attendees will be invited to write their bids on paper near the auction items of their choice, there will be live music from local musician Ian ‘Bidge’ Boyd.
Ms Dunstan said donations for auction items are still welcomed.
“We’ve got some Woolworths vouchers, a hairdresser voucher, and Boss Burger vouchers, a few bottles of wine, and we got $150 donation of goods from Mitre 10 in Terang,” she said.
“Apart from that, we’re needing to get a whole lot more.
“Before Christmas, we’ll head around to all the shops and see if anyone can donate or not.
“We know it’s hard for businesses – it’s tough everywhere.”
The fundraiser will be emceed by Camperdown Golf Club’s Michael Brebner, who Ms Dunstan described as a “hoot and a laugh”.
Ms Edwards said she is “very happy” with her fundraising efforts, with the total at $4278 at time of publication.
“We’ll see what we can do with the trivia night – maybe we can get it up to $5000,” she said.
“It’s a very generous community – it says a lot about the town how much people have given.
“If anyone wants to come along, the more the merrier.
“I would like to thank everyone for their generosity, support and for getting behind the cause.”
Bookings of a table of eight can be made by contacting Ms Dunstan on 0429 477 590.
