Ms Van Kempen said pre-sales for the day had been “very strong” with many groups opting for the more affordable and relaxed vibe of an umbrella package to enjoy the day.

“While our overall corporate numbers are down, there has certainly been an increase in sales of other packages,” she said.

“With the weather forecast looking like it being a pleasant day, it is hoped that many people will wake up in the morning and decide that a day at the races is on the cards.

“There is plenty on offer for everyone, with kids catered for by Kelly Sports Games, Arts and Crafts and free backpacks and a number of rides for kids of all ages.

“There will be plenty of food options available with hot food, barbecue, pizzas, ice cream and milkshakes, coffee and fruit salad and salad rolls all available for purchase on the day.”

Those looking to dress up for the occasion can enter the Fashions on the Field competition, with the Turf Club looking to crown a Best Dressed Lady and a Best Dressed Gent.

Registrations for these categories will be open from 12.30pm till 1.45pm at the Fashions Stage, with judging to commence from 2.30pm onwards.

Ms Van Kempen said there will be plenty of entertainment off track before the main event from 1pm.

“Those on-course will have the opportunity to bid for a signed Sam Walsh Carlton jumper along with a 2.5 per cent share in a two-year-old Tosen Stardom Gelding, kindly donated by Matthew Williams Racing of Warrnambool,” she said.

“Live music by local band Avalon will kick off at 2pm and the bars will be well stocked with plenty of chilled beverages for people to enjoy.

“Local shuttle buses will run through the day, and people should visit the Facebook page for details of this service.

“Gates open at 11am and people are welcome to come along and find a spot on the lawn or grab a chair in the beautiful historical grandstand with a birds eye view of the action on the day.”
