THE taps of knowledge were flowing at Timboon P-12 School during the annual Timboon Agriculture Project (TAP) TAPs On! day.

TAP co-ordinator Andrea Vallance said the annual TAP’s On! curriculum expo had something for everyone.

“It’s not often you see #FarmVR or #FarmAR, opposite a tram conductor, near Royal chooks, with a tractor and bandicoots, calves, SES scenarios, horses, or a fire truck, in the proximity of a dog vs drone challenge or a FarmBot encounter juxtaposed with barbecue smokers or a potential biosecurity outbreak whilst doing a water bug boogie, before being told numerous Duck Tales or a Story of a River,” she said.

“That doesn’t even include the versatile vegies, transitory rock stories, indigenous collages, camembert comparisons, GPS cows, Arduino achieves, workplace communication challenges, or AI exercises.

“Our 2023 TAP’s On! curriculum expo had it all, and even more for students, teachers and visitors.”

This year’s event saw more than 450 students from Timboon P-12 School and Simpson Primary School participating in a series of peer- led workshops held at Timboon in a celebration of the exciting curriculum based around agriculture and community at Timboon P-12 School.

“Jess and Cameron from THINK.DIGITAL were our feature guests, and they shared numerous immersive and interactive technologies that highlighted the role that digital technologies can play to inspire, engage and teach people more about the potential of agriculture,” Mrs Vallance said.

“Children from the Timboon Kindergarten and the Kardinia Learning Centre explored our curriculum workstations, visiting a range of activities at place around the school campus.

“Thank you to our wonderful student presenters, teachers, mentors, parents, visiting educators, industry and community guests for helping us celebrate TAP's On! 2023.”

School principal Matt Dodson said the annual event was a “wonderful celebration of the community, business, industry, farm and curriculum connections forged during the year”.

“I’m proud of the commitment our teachers bring to engaging students in learning about their world around them, but also learning that extends their world too,” he said.

“The students sharing their learning with their peers and families together with our community partners was a joy to see and evidence of the impact that the TAP has had.”
