Twilight bowls season concludes

Weekend pennant round nine last Saturday saw Mortlake 1 Blue (division one) draw with Timboon 1 Demons 64-all at home.

D. Grant def P. Rowe 28-19, C. Goldsworthy def B. Mungean 18-19 and L. Johnston lost to A. Finch 18-28.

Mortlake 2 White (div. 2) defeated Koroit 2 Saints 84-29 (home).

C Baxter def R Farley 15-14, R Draffen def T O’Shannessy 33-8 and P Delaney def S Battistello 36-7.

Mortlake 4 Gold (div. 4) lost to City 9 Orange 30-42 (away).

D Murray lost to G Fox 13-21 and M Heard lost to C Rayner 17-21.

Last Tuesday saw round 10 of midweek pennant.

Mortlake 1 Blue (div. 1) lost to Timboon 1 Demons 56-64 (away).

L Johnson def. P Rowe 23-20, D Grant lost to B Mungean 16-17 and C Goldsworthy lost to A Finch 17-27.

Mortlake 2 Purple (div. 4) lost to Lawn Tennis 3 Gold (away).

L O’Shannessy lost to J Tory 19-25 and G MacDonald lost to F Pickett 14-24.

This round concluded the midweek pennant season for 2025.

Mortlake Blue is currently fourth and only three points behind second but a game ahead of fifth-placed City 2 Sapphires.

Mortlake 2 Purple is currently in sixth place, only seven points behind fourth placed Lawn Tennis 3 Gold.

Midweek pennant round 11 will resume on Tuesday, January 13.

Last Tuesday also saw Over 60s social pennant round nine.

It was the battle of the Mortlake’s, Blue v White.

Mortlake Blue def. Mortlake White 46-21.

K Johnson def. M Heard 22-10 and P Delaney def. D Murray 24-11.

Time is running out to get your tickets in the Christmas Hamper raffle.

This is $2 a ticket or three for $5 and you could be the lucky winner of a Christmas hamper.

Come down this Saturday to get your tickets from the clubrooms or find a club member to purchase.

Feel free to also drop off some hamper items if tickets aren’t your thing – every bit helps.

This will be drawn this Saturday, December 20 and winners will be notified.

Just a reminder that after weekend pennant this Saturday there will be a Christmas breakup dinner with members to bring a salad and $5 per person.

Last Wednesday saw the conclusion of the 2025 twilight bowls summer season and it was down to the last week to sort out the teams for finals.

Congratulations to The Lakers and The Shearers.

The match started off with both sides matching each other until The Lakers broke away.

To their credit, The Shearers came back towards the end but ran out of ends.

Well done to The Shearers, John Elder, John Smith and Danielle Gilchrist who fought valiantly.

The 2026 autumn twilight bowls season returns on Wednesday, January 28.

Kick off will be at 6pm and it’s only $5 to play.

Bowls can be provided, along with help for first time bowlers. Everyone welcome.
