Two airlifted to The Alfred Hospital following horror crash

Cobden Police Sergeant Heather Morris said at about 6.30pm a black Holden Commodore Sedan, travelling in a westerly direction along County-Boundary Road failed to give way at the intersection with Camperdown-Cobden Road.
“This has caused the vehicle – a white Isuzu ute – travelling in a northerly direction along Camperdown-Cobden Road to collide into the passenger side, causing major damage to both vehicles,” she said.
“The driver and three passengers in the Commodore were taken to hospital; two were airlifted to The Alfred.”
Sgt Morris said all occupants of the Commodore were from Geelong and the occupants of the Izuzu ute were from the Portland area.
“The offending driver stated he didn’t see the give way sign and the high roadside vegetation at the intersection prevented him seeing the oncoming traffic,” she said.
“He will receive an infringement notice for failing to give way at an intersection.”
Sgt Morris paid tribute to the numerous State Emergency Service (SES) and Country Fire Authority (CFA) volunteers which attended the accident scene.
“They – along with the ambulance teams – did an amazing job,” she said.
