Two rounds remain

WITH just two rounds remaining, positions on the Terang Table Tennis Association ladder are starting to take some shape.

Timo Mania has cemented top spot and as they now sit two games clear with a bye the last round, they will finish minor premiers.

Youngsters hold second spot from I Don’t Care by games won.

Both will finish second or third and play each other in the semi-final.

Fourth spot sees one win separating TIC and Saints.

Saints have turned their season around and with the bye they will be level on points at the end of this round should TIC not defeat the top side.

The three octogenarians were all struck down with illness last week as the winter ills continue to impact player availability and team strengths.

Top side Timo Mania had a big battle on their hands against Youngsters, winning 8-3.

Timo Mania’s Michael Pearson continued his season improvement, adding another new scalp to his collection defeating Tong Young 11-3, 12-10, 8-11, 4-11, 11-7.

Michael also won his other singles along with Trevor McDowell’s clean sweep of wins.

The pair also won their doubles. Another surprise win was Peter Mania defeating the higher ranked Vesha Chapagai in the fifth game after having recovered from a thumping in the fourth game 7-11, 11-8, 11-6, 1-11, 11-9.

Saints were missing two players and Mark Smith filled in for them which impacted heavily on the final result even though he only played two matches.

With Callum winning his three and both doubles, TIC provided good opposition, but unfortunately they were never in the hunt losing 7-4

Ladder: Timo Mania 24, Youngsters 20, I Don’t Care 20, TIC 16 , Saints 12.
