Two car collision: Two vehicles were involved in a crash at Reservoir Hill on the Camperdown-Cobden Road last Wednesday.

TWO women were taken to hospital after a two-vehicle collision on the Camperdown-Cobden Road last Wednesday.

A woman in her 80s and a woman in her 20s were travelling southbound when one performed a U-Turn.

The first car hit the second, veered off the road and saw airbags deployed.

Senior Constable Jono Neville said the woman in her 80s was taken to hospital for observation but was unharmed.

“The lady in her 20s was complaining of chest soreness and a knock to the nose, most likely from the airbag,” he said.

“Both vehicles were towed away, both written off with extensive damage. It is a 100km zone.

“They both were towed away, undriveable, and most airbag were deployed.

“They’re both from the Corangamite area, so they both know the road, so it was just one of those things. A lapse in concentration.”

Snr Const Neville said it was important to remain aware on the road.

“If you’re performing a U-turn in front of someone, just concentration, always make sure to keep that up.

“A momentary lapse of concentration can end like this.

“They’re pretty lucky; it is a 100km zone, it could’ve been a lot worse especially the way the U-turn was performed.

“It was obviously on the driver’s side, so it was lucky to hit the front of the car and not the driver’s door; it could have been a totally different story.”
