UNIVERSITY of the Third Age (U3A) Corangamite members were regaled with stories of a voyage to the Antarctic peninsula recently.
U3A Corangamite spokesperson Gary Kimber said at the recent Travel Tales session members and guests were presented with a talk from Ross Kimber on his one month journey to the Antarctic peninsula.
“He went on a ship with 120 passengers and travelled with several photographers who all worked together to share their many photos as the trip ensued,” he said.
“Ross showed the magnificent scenery including ice shelves, icebergs, hundreds of thousands of penguins, seals and whales including Orcas.”
Mr Kimber said Ross enjoyed many unique experiences on the trip.
“He visited many islands with their unique wildlife,” he said.
“He also visited the shacks of Antarctic pioneers Scott, Shackleton and Amundsen.
“It was an amazing array of photos and always ended up with afternoon tea.”
