Performance continues: V/Line has continued its strong start to the year.

In February, 98.5 per cent of Warrnambool Line services were delivered as scheduled, exceeding the 96 per cent reliability target.

Punctuality performance dipped slightly to 89.8 per cent, just below the monthly target of 92 per cent.

A V/Line spokesperson said the completion of the Warrnambool Line Upgrade and introduction of VLocity trains had proven a success.

“Since the introduction of more modern, reliable and accessible VLocity trains, the Warrnambool Line has exceeded the reliability target for four consecutive months, including during February,” the spokesperson said.

“We encourage passengers to check before they travel, with coaches to replace trains between Warrnambool and Southern Cross from March 31 while crews complete upgrades to stabling facilities at Warrnambool Station to allow all services to Warrnambool to be operated with VLocity trains.”

“From next month the Victorian Government will be introducing additional weekend services, which will mean Warrnambool Line passengers will soon have five daily VLocity services across weekdays and the weekend.”

Stabling works for VLocity trains at Warrnambool Station will commence on March 31, with all services to run as VLocity trains once interim stabling is complete in April.

From April 14, there will also be four extra weekend services introduced on the Warrnambool Line, with new return services on Saturdays and Sundays adding to the extra services rolled out late last year.

This means Warrnambool Line passengers will soon have five daily services across weekdays and the weekend.

V/Line’s reserved seating trial for Warrnambool Line services, which was introduced late last year, is continuing to help give passengers greater certainty around seating.

Under the reserved seating trial, if all seats are booked on a Warrnambool Line service, passengers have the option of purchasing an unreserved ticket, which alerts them they may have to stand for all or part of their journey.
