V/Line finishes 2024 with rising performance
V/LINE finished off 2024 on a high note, recording one of its strongest performance results on the Warrnambool line.

In December, 99.3 per cent of Warrnambool Line services were delivered as scheduled following 99.2 per cent in November, exceeding the 96 per cent reliability target.
The punctuality result also continued to climb, with 90.8 per cent of services arriving at their destination on time in December.
The result was an increase from 84.5 per cent in November and 41.7 per cent in June 2024 prior to significant upgrade and improvement works taking place along the line in preparation for the introduction of VLocity trains.
A V/Line spokesperson said the results positioned Warrnambool among the best across the network.
“In December, Warrnambool services were among the most reliable on the network, with reliability above 99 per cent for the second consecutive month,” the spokesperson said.
Three Warrnambool Line services in each direction are now running as VLocity trains seven days a week.
The modern VLocity trains were introduced to the line in November 2024, which the V/Line spokesperson said was helping to reduce the risk of train faults, preventing in cancellations and disruptions to passenger services.
“VLocity trains are the most modern, reliable and accessible in the V/Line fleet and since the introduction of VLocity trains onto the Warrnambool Line in November last year, we’ve seen an improvement in performance,” the spokesperson said.
V/Line also introduced a fourth weekend return service onto the Warrnambool Line in December and planning is underway to add a fifth weekend return service for passengers this year.
V/Line has commenced a reserved seating trial for Warrnambool Line services to help give passengers greater certainty around seating.
Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and make a reservation in advance by booking online, at a staffed V/Line or premium Metro station, by calling 1800 800 007 or by visiting a retail ticket agent.
Under the reserved seating trial, if all seats are booked on a Warrnambool Line service, passengers have the option of purchasing an unreserved ticket, which alerts them they may have to stand for all or part of their journey.
Stabling works for VLocity trains at Warrnambool Station will be completed during 2025, with all services to run as VLocity trains once this is complete.
