Positive result: V/Line exceeded its performance results throughout January, which saw the Warrnambool Line among the best performing in the state.

Through January 99.3 per cent of Warrnambool Line services were delivered as scheduled, exceeding the 96 per cent reliability target.

In addition, 94.7 per cent of services arrived at their destination on time, increasing from 90.8 per cent in December 2024.

A V/Line spokesperson said the result was among the best across the Victorian network.

“The Warrnambool Line was among the best performing lines on the network in January, exceeding 99 per cent reliability for the third consecutive month,” the spokesperson said.

“Since the introduction of VLocity trains we have continued to see performance improve on the Warrnambool Line and planning is underway for all services to run as VLocity trains later this year.”

Three Warrnambool Line services in each direction are now running as VLocity trains seven days a week.

VLocity trains are more modern, accessible and reliable than classic fleet trains and their introduction is helping to reduce the risk of train faults, resulting in cancellations and disruptions to passenger services.

V/Line introduced a fourth weekend return service onto the Warrnambool Line in December, and planning is underway to add a fifth weekend return service for passengers.

All Warrnambool Line services will run as VLocity trains once overnight stabling is completed later in 2025.

V/Line has commenced a reserved seating trial for Warrnambool Line services to help give passengers greater certainty around seating.

Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and make a reservation in advance by booking online, at a staffed V/Line or premium Metro station, by calling 1800 800 007 or by visiting a retail ticket agent.
