Veterans compete at Terang

CORANGAMITE veteran golfers competed on a well-prepared course at Terang last week.


The course was in excellent condition for last Tuesday’s competition – many thanks to the members for the time and effort spent on preparing the course for the day.

The four ball stableford was won by Bernie Kenna and Peter Taylor on 45 points.

The runners-up were Bruce McSween and Greg Trotter on 43 points on countback, with Trevor Gardner and Carl Horan third on 43.

NAGA went to Lesley Mathison and Don Witham on 32.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Lesley Mathison, 6th Bruce Knee (golden hole), 8th Stephen Grinter and 11th John Conheady.

Graham Clifford and Don Witham congratulated the Terang Golf Club on the extensive clean-up and improvements.

The annual general meeting was held after presentations, with reports from president Graham Clifford and treasurer Brian Smith.

The following committee was elected for 12 months:

President Graham Clifford (life member), vice-president Alan White, secretary Trevor Gardner, treasurer Brian Smith, captain Stephen Preston, vice-captain Don Witham, and handicapper Bernard Sinnott.

The general committee will comprise Bill Finlayson, Colin Venn, Vince Beekman and John Miller.

The next events will be a stableford at Cobden on Tuesday, March 24 and at Mortlake on Tuesday, April 7.
