TAYLA Bell and Tyler Vickers have both qualified to compete in next month’s state cross-country championships.

The Terang College students performed exceptionally well at the recent GWR event in Warrnambool to qualify for the state titles, which will be held at the Yarra Valley Racing Club in Yarra Glen on July 13.

Bell, a year eight student, finished the 14 year-girls’ three-kilometre course in eighth position from 74 runners – in a time of 13 minutes and five seconds.

This will be her second time competing at state-level.

Vickers, a year 11 student, finished the 17-20 year boys’ five kilometre course in a time of 18 minutes, 29 seconds, to cross the line sixth.

The 17 year and 18-20 year boys merged to form one age group.

Next month will be Vickers’ first time competing in the state event.

The GWR cross-country event was held at Warrnambool’s Reid Oval last Monday week.

Terang College sent a team of seven students – Vickers, Bell, Tahnee Sachs, Kai Crawley, Millie Castersen, Nick Eldridge and Bailey Dennis.

Over 40 schools sent students to compete at the event.

Students who finished in the top 12 for their age group qualified for next month’s state titles.
