Vickers heads to state title
TERANG College student Tyler Vickers has qualified to compete at the SSV state track and field championships next Monday.
TERANG College student Tyler Vickers has qualified to compete at the SSV state track and field championships next Monday.
Vickers performed exceptionally well at the GWR championships in Ballarat last Thursday to finish first in the 800m event.
He also finished second in the 200m and third in the 400m events.
This will be the year 11 students’ second appearance at a SSV event this year, after competing at the state cross-country in July.
Terang College was represented by eight students in Ballarat on what was a bitterly cold day.
Despite the weather, some great performances were seen.
The team comprised Jessica Bell, Elizabeth Flavell, Mia Dickson, Tyler Vickers, Bailey Dennis, Riley Fleming, and Lynley and Jackenzie Sharp.
Along with Vickers, Lizzie Flavell (second in discus), Mia Dickson (third in discus) and Bailey Dennis (second in discus) also finished in the top three.
Fifty-one schools from across the region participated on the day, with Terang College finishing a creditable 26th overall.
Well done to all students for their fantastic efforts on the day and a big thank you to the parents and grandparents for being there to show their support.
