Bulls were particularly impressive, defeating fellow winter finalists, Poachers and NOBTS.

Both those sides took it right up to the Bulls but couldn’t quite greet the judge.

Freeballers dealt effectively with Ballbusters and new team, Cowgirls, but their improvement (or otherwise) will be easier to gauge against higher-ranked opponents in round two.

It was great to see the all-female Cowgirls line up for the first time.

They have supported the Bulls in their quest for premierships from the stands for several seasons and have finally taken the plunge to test their skills in competition.

Round one results saw NOBTS def Cowgirls 4-0, Freeballers def Ballbusters 3-1, Poachers def Ballbusters 3-0, Bulls def NOBTS 2-1, Freeballers def Cowgirls 2-1 and Bulls def Poachers 2-0.

The ladder after October 8 stands as follows – Bulls 8, Freeballers 8, NOBTS 4, Poachers 4, Ballbusters 0, Cowgirls 0.
