Volunteers package up Christmas presents
A DEDICATED team of volunteers spent time making sure children living through poverty have something to open this Christmas.

Members of the All Saints Anglican Church in Terang took part in the national collection as part of Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child involves volunteers packing boxes full of goods including clothing, books, pencils and stationary, toothbrushes, sunglasses, hats, combs, balls and toys.
Those boxes are then shipped to children in need around the world, with more than 220 million children in more than 170 countries receiving gifts since the initiative began in 1993.
Organiser Julie Pomeroy said she was “rapt” with this year’s result of 114 boxes being filled with goods which had been donated, or purchased with money donated to the cause.
“Many volunteers from the district ensure these gift boxes will go to underprivileged children abroad, who will appreciate a giftbox at Christmas,” she said.
“Many of them otherwise would not have anything to open.”
Mrs Pomeroy said she, and all volunteers involved, were grateful for the Terang Community Op Shop, which had donated $3000 towards the postage to ensure the boxes reach their destination.
“I would also like to say thank you to Ayrford Lutheran Ladies Guild for their donation of 30 boxes,” she said.
“Cobden and Panmure Country Women’s Association groups, Birregurra Tennis Club, Camperdown Quilters, the Anglican Churches in Timboon, Camperdown, Cobden and Terang as well as the Presbyterian, Uniting and Catholic Churches have also donated.
“Thank you to anyone who has donated in any way.
“It is greatly appreciated.”
