CAMPERDOWN College junior students ditched the cars and buses and took part in National Walk to School Day last Friday.
The students were joined by Camperdown Police Acting Sergeant Don Camilleri and Constable Ashley Pitt who were waiting at the school gates to ensure all participants arrived to the Junior Campus safely.
On arrival, students were greeted with warm toast, fruit and juice as part of the weekly Breakfast Club.
School wellbeing officer Kathryn Robertson says starting the day with exercise is good for the mind and body.
“Walk to school day is always a fun morning where students get the chance to interact with each other while getting in some exercise along the way,” she said.
“It was wonderful to have the presence of the Camperdown Police with us this year with a strong message of pedestrian safety and creating links with the students.”
Act Sgt Camilleri said the visit was “well received”.
“There was some smiling facing among the students,” he said.
“It was good to be involved.”
