Wareham selected for Indian series

MORTLAKE leg-spinner Georgia Wareham is in line to add to her tally of international matches after earning selection in another Southern Stars squad.
The 22 year-old was one of 15 players selected for next month’s multi-format series against India.
The series will include three Twenty20 games, a test match and three one day internationals starting on September 19.
Wareham will be in line to make her test debut as part of the squad, having missed out on wearing the baggy green in the 2019 Ashes.
“You grow up watching test matches as a kid, I remember watching heaps of tests and thinking it would be amazing to play,” she told the Cricket Australia website.
“I was pretty disappointed not to be playing in that last Ashes test and to finally get that opportunity to wear the baggy green would be incredible.
“I’m going do everything I can to put my hand up for a selection when that time comes.”
Wareham, who recently re-signed with Melbourne Renegades for a further three seasons, has completed the majority of her pre-season in Melbourne working with Craig Howard after opting out of playing in England’s The Hundred competition.
Those sessions have focused on technical work given the Aussies are set for a bumper summer of cricket.
Following the Indian series, the Stars will meet England for the Ashes before they head to England in March for the one-day World Cup.
