Weekend pennant starts Saturday
MORTLAKE bowlers have been busy on the greens and enjoying success.
In Club Championship news, the 100-Up Championship has now reached the grand final stage.
For the women, Gertie MacDonald will play Lyn O’Shannessy while in the men’s competition, Kevin Johnson will play Scott Pierce.
The original date of Sunday, October 27 will be changed (to a date to be advised).
In the A Grade Championships, the women’s draw had G Kenna vs S Richie in the semi-finals top half of the draw, with the bottom half to be caught up.
For the men, Darren Grant will meet the winner of John Tanner’s match in the semi-finals and the quarter finals will see Les Johnson play Clive Baxter.
Mortlake has taken out two pre-pennant events – the Battle of the Hamilton Highway, and the Moyne Shire Shield.
Congratulations Lakers. Next year, Mortlake will host both events.
In midweek pennant, the first round of division three was played at home against City Emeralds.
The results were not available before deadline.

Mortlake 1 Purple (div. 3) away to Timboon 3 Red: V Smith (s), L O’Shannessy, D Hadfield, S Richie; D Robertson (s), G MacDonald, R Pasque, W McDonald.
Tuesday’s social pennant was also played this week, with Mortlake White having the bye and Mortlake Blue away to Cobden Red.
Again, results were unavailable before deadline.
Next week, Mortlake Blue will be home to Mortlake White.
Round one of weekend pennant kicks off this Saturday.
