Weekly birthing services confirmed for hospital
SOUTH West Healthcare (SWH) has confirmed a Monday-Friday birthing service at the Camperdown Hospital, which has already welcomed two little bundles of joy.

The Wilson and Spence families welcomed two new arrivals last week at Camperdown Hospital, both within a day of each other.
Pip Wilson was born to mum Kara and dad Kai - the second in their family - on Monday, February 3, with Ivy Spence born to mum Emma and dad Cameron the very next day.
The confirmed weekly service will also include alternative arrangements for weekends, which will be individually discussed with women planning to birth in Camperdown.
Women who are assessed as low risk and are interested in birthing in Camperdown are able to visit the service for all of their pre-natal and antenatal appointments as well as birthing classes by appointment, saving them time and travel to Warrnambool.
SWH chief executive officer Craig Fraser said there is also the option of shared care with Dr Edith Masih, or the option to attend Camperdown for all appointments and birth in Warrnambool should women choose this option, or if this is recommended by the obstetric and midwifery teams.
“We have worked with our specialist GP obstetrician and midwifery teams to confirm that birthing services for low-risk pregnancies will be available Monday-Friday going forward with arrangements put in place across the weekend,” he said.
“We are here to support local mums – there are lots of options to consider – depending on your situation and what works best for you and the health of your baby.”
Nursing Unit manager Kirsty Mitchell said women birthing in Camperdown will be able to get to know their care team throughout their pregnancy journey.
“The midwives in Camperdown do a fabulous job, it is a really personal experience with a small team of five,” she said.
