Wet weather floods Timboon pub
WITH stormy weather raging across the region on Sunday, September 7, one business found itself in a precarious situation as flooding took over.

The Timboon Railway View Hotel ended up flooding throughout the venue as torrential downpour showed no mercy, but pub licensee Karen Flett said she didn’t let the rain stop them from pushing through the night.
“It started about 4.15pm and we got about 20 millimetres in 10 minutes,” she said.
“It came in through the ladies toilets, our back beer garden, our chemical store, went into the kitchen, our dry store and right up on the top half of our bistro.
“We did not close at all. We made it through the night – we even had people for tea that night.”
Mrs Flett runs the pub with her husband David and said they were lucky to receive help from some locals in the area.

“Up behind the pub there’s a cul-de-sac and the drain was blocked, so all the water came across over the top and down into our pub. It went everywhere,” she said.
“We had some Timboon footballers here and they gave us a hand in cleaning up and the kitchen staff as well.
“We have a vacuum that can suck up the water and had the heaters on overnight as well.
“Come 10am the next day we had our mah-jong ladies come and play mah-jong too.
“It’s all back together thanks to my lovely helpers.”
Mrs Flett thanked the Timboon community for their support and patience while her team navigated service and clean-up throughout the evening.
