CORANGAMITE hockey players enjoyed round four action last week.

In the under 16 competition, the early game saw Craters defeated by Technique 8-0.

Thanks to Technique for supplying a player to Craters, making the team numbers more even.

Isla tried out as goalie for the first time and worked with the team to repel many more attempts at goal.

General improvement kept the score closer than last time these teams played.

With no subs, Lakers had a tough game against Mariners but kept it tight only going down by two goals, 2-0.

The parent-voted ‘best players’ went to Isla, Jonah and Ned (Craters) and Lucas, Oliver and Taliyah (Lakers).

Coaches awards have been introduced, to be presented after each game in recognition of one player who made a valuable contribution.

This week two female players stood out, Isla for Craters (presented by Jason) and Taliyah for Lakers (from coach Joselyn).

Saturday saw under 12 and women’s games played in Warrnambool.

In the under 12s game, Volcanoes (blue team) played through pouring rain and defeated Strikers.

The Volcanoes worked well as a team and have been improving their passing and trapping skills.

The under 12 Comets (purple team) had some rain during their game too and enjoyed how the water flicked off their sticks as they played.

They had a win and everyone on the team scored a goal - great teamwork.

Corangamite women played a great game and although they didn’t win, they had a lot of fun on the field while the sun was shining.

Rock Up Indoor Hockey has its last session this week.

Corangamite Hockey would like to see more experienced players working on their fitness and skills while also supporting the younger players.

It is only $5 and lots of fun.
