When it rains, it pours
TERANG and Mortlake received a significant downpour of rain throughout June, with each community experiencing rainfall well above the long-term monthly average.
Terang experienced its wettest month since October 2022 with 129.6mm of rain falling throughout June – well above the long-term average of just 78.6mm.
The highest daily rainfall occurred on June 5 when 32mm of rain hit the ground.
The June result was, however, only slightly about the conditions experienced in June last year, with 124.6mm of rain falling over the same period in 2025.
The result brings the total rainfall over Terang through the first six months of the year to 316mm.
Meanwhile in Mortlake, the results were similar with a whopping 107mm of rain hitting the ground – well above the 58mm long-term monthly average.
The highest daily rainfall occurred on June 5, with 21.8mm hitting the ground.
The result was down on the year prior, however, with 133.4mm of rain hitting the ground in June 2025.
The result pushes the annual tally for 2026 to 277.8mm through the first half of the year.
