Ms Wilkinson, who works as a legal assistant at the law firm, studied at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland for four months from August last year.

As reported last February, the experience was part of Monash University’s Study Abroad program which allows high-performing students to study at a partner university.

Ms Wilkinson said she studied family law, international law and sociology while overseas, living on campus at the 434-year-old facility.

“The grounds are so spectacular and there are so many old, impressive buildings,” she said.

“It was such an amazing experience to be living there and such a rewarding experience to be studying overseas.

“It had a really great university culture – there were always lots of different events for students and student sporting teams everyone went and supported.

“The academic standard was also really high which was good because it encouraged me to push myself academically.”

Ms Wilkinson said she enjoyed playing field hockey with the college’s ladies club, being able to explore other parts of Ireland through the competition.

“I visited Galway and a small town called Kildare,” she said.

“I went to Edinburgh in Scotland and Marbella in Spain.

“After having this experience I’m now really keen to go overseas somewhere in the United Kingdom (UK), to do my master’s degree.

“The quality of education at those really old universities in the UK and Ireland is a high standard of education.

“I made some great friends with people from Australia and all over the world, which I feel so lucky to have those connections with all those people who have different backgrounds and different lives.”

Ms Wilkinson encouraged anyone with the opportunity to study abroad to seize the chance.

“It’s so beneficial if anyone has an opportunity to live, study or work in a place which is different from where you grew up,” she said.

“I think you grow so much as a person and learn so much about yourself and the world, and it’s things you can only learn by getting out of your comfort zone and having to adapt to a new place.”
