Williamson hits 100 games for Bombers
JESSE Williamson has always wanted to give something back to the Cobden Football Netball Club.

JESSE Williamson has always wanted to give something back to the Cobden Football Netball Club.
The Bombers have been a second home for the 24 year-old, who has made the trip up the Cobden-Stoneyford Road three times a week to don the black and red jumper.
On Saturday the pair were rewarded, with Williamson lining up in his 100th game for the club some seven years after his debut against North Warrnambool.
His first game came under club legend Stephen Hammond against Port Fairy in 2014, with the wingman sticking true to the club ever since.
In his own words, Williamson said his milestone was just as much about the club as it was for him.
“They’ve been good to me the whole time so it’s good to give something back to them,” he said.
“The travel and time, it’s 30 to 40 minutes down the road, makes it a little bit special.
“I was meant to get it last year but missed out with COVID, so to finally get it was good because it was something I was looking forward to a little bit.
“The travel gets to you sometimes on a Tuesday and Thursday when its cold but it’s a great club and a great group of people. I’ve really enjoyed it.”
Williamson’s 100 games have been packed with numerous highlights.
An attacking wingman, the Colac local has booted 95 majors to accompany his games tally, while in 2019 he was picked to represent the Hampden league for its country championships clash against Ballarat.
Williamson also featured in the Bombers under 18.5 victory in 2015 but finals football has been more of a rarity at senior level although it has provided him with his biggest highlight to date.
“The obvious one was when we played the prelim (in 2017),” Williamson said.
“That was my first taste of senior finals, I think I’ve only played two or three but it was definitely one of the highlights.
“Another has been playing with a good bunch of people every weekend.”
Williamson capped off his milestone game with a goal in the Bombers 60 point defeat to the Eagles.
