A WIN over Portland last weekend has seen Terang Mortlake retain second place on the Hampden League ladder.
The Bloods now sit a game clear of the third-placed Koroit after the Saints lost to South Warrnambool on Saturday.
The Tigers got an early jump over the Bloods at Hanlon Park and went into the main break with a handy nine-point lead.
The Bloods went out firing in the third quarter, making good use of the ball in their forward line and adding seven majors while keeping the home side to just one.
The third quarter proved the winning one for the Bloods, turning a nine-point deficit into a 28-point lead at three-quarter time.
The Bloods continued their momentum in the final term, adding another four goals to run out 42-point winners.
Final scores were Terang Mortlake 13.16.94 to Portland 6.16.52.
Best for the Bloods were Ryley Hutchins, Isaac Kenna, Joe Arundell, Luke McConnell, Matty Arundell and Daniel Kenna.
Will Kain added another four goals to his tally and was supported by team-mates Joe Arundell and Ryley Hutchins with two each, while Rhys Buck, Toby Harris, Luke McConnell, Ben Reid and Wade Rosas all kicked one goal apiece.
The Bloods’ reserves also had a great day out, taking the win from Portland 10.6.66 to 6.10.46.
Ryan Tanner booted four majors for the Bloods while Jake Lee kicked two and Bailey Kavenagh added one.
Best for the side were Tanner, Kavenagh, Lee and Henry Roberts.
Earlier in the day, Terang Mortlake’s under 18.5 side found the going tough, kicking just one behind for the day while the home side booted 17.20.122.
Best for the Bloods were Tyler Vickers, Tyson Royal, Darcy bbott, Hamish Hobbs, Damien Goddard and Will Layley.
The Bloods’ open netballers put on a great display of team-work and skill to defeat Portland 48-42.
Best players were Hollie Castledine, Ava Grundy and Grace Wareham.
Division one – Terang Mortlake lost to Portland 43-44. Best for the Bloods: Mahni Wright, May Suhan and Rhi Davis.
Division two – Portland defeated Terang Mortlake 45-39. Best: Zoe Barker and Linda Chessum.
Division three – Terang Mortlake defeated Portland 39-14. Best players: Debbie Worland and Meagan Carlin.
17 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Portland 57-25.
15 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Portland 36-19.
13 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Portland 26-15. Best players: McKenzie Dillon and Violet Dillon.
The Bloods will host Port Fairy at Mortlake’s Wilsons DC Farran Oval this Saturday.
