Winter proves dry

IT was a cold and wet start to winter for many towns across the south west.

IT was a cold and wet start to winter for many towns across the south west.

Cobden saw 117mm of rain fall throughout June, well above the long-term average of 82.3mm but slightly down on last year’s June figure of 122.2mm.

The highest daily rainfall figure was 25mm of rain on June 8.

Cobden and surrounds saw 47mm throughout July.

The long-term average for Cobden’s rainfall in July is 92.4mm.

The highest daily rainfall was 11mm which fell on July 9.

August rainfall was lower again with just 42.6mm of rain, well down on the long-term average of 101.4mm.

The highest daily rainfall for the month was recorded on August 18, with 13.8mm falling over the 24-hour period.

For winter, a total of 206.6mm was recorded for the three-month period.

So far this year 547.6mm of rain has fallen.
