Witnesses sought after car stolen, torched
WARRNAMBOOL Police has called for anyone who saw something suspicious to get in touch after a vehicle and machinery were stolen from Woorndoo over the weekend.
Warrnambool Police senior constable Lewis Martin said the alleged theft had occurred in the Woorndoo area overnight on Saturday, January 13.
“An Audi was stolen from a driveway overnight on Saturday or the early hours of Sunday morning; between 9pm and 7am, along with other farm tools and machinery,” he said.
“This included a John Deere ride-on mower and an assortment of power tools, including a chainsaw and charging equipment, was stolen from a nearby shed.”
The vehicle, identified as an Audi Q5, was later found torched around 50 kilometres north in Willaura.
Snr Const Martin said anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage who saw anything suspicious was urged to reach out to Warrnambool police.
“Getting around with these items would stand out a bit,” he said.
Snr Const Martin reminded the community to take measures to ensure their property is protected at all times.
“Make sure you lock your houses and all doors, and be vigilant for anything suspicious,” he said.
“Have your property secured as best you can, and don’t hesitate to reach out to police if something doesn’t look right.”
