Women take time off farm to reconnect
MORE than 100 women took some time away from the farm to enjoy this year’s ‘Women on Farms’ gathering in Hamilton.

The annual three-day event has become a much anticipated one on the calendars of women in agriculture across the state, along with several who travelled from South Australia and south of New South Wales for the March event.
According to organisers, this year’s event was a huge success and one that was enjoyed by the large number who attended.
“The Women on Farms event is one that many women really look forward to,” Tara Fry said.
“It gives people the opportunity to take some time out away from the farm, and away from business obligations, and to enjoy reconnecting with like-minded women.
“The sessions also provide opportunities to be inspired by the stories of other women living on farm, and to upskill if still on farm or still running a business.”
During the three days, participants also enjoyed the chance to visit local shops, tour the botanic gardens and gallery, and to take part in some fun activities including cake decorating and flower wreath making.
Local agricultural photographer, Tracey Kruger, gave an inspirational talk on both her photography business and her life on the land.
Victoria Carey, editor of the Graziher magazine, was a keynote speaker on the weekend.
“It was amazing to listen to Victoria; she was happy to share her experiences and answer questions which was amazing,” Tara said.
“Overall the weekend was another huge success and many are already looking forward to next year’s event, which will be held in Shepparton.”
